Sunflower Minstrel Plays Draw Big Crowds in Graham
The Sunflower Minstrel presented by the American Legion and the Graham Concert Band drew full houses in Graham and Olney last Friday and Saturday, with strong support from about forty local volunteers. J. M. Burkett directed and starred, leading a cast that included Bruce Casburn and Howard Kimes, while the program featured songs, skits, and the Plantation Scene with a lively blackface chorus. United Charities Reorganizes and Elects Officers
The United Charities held a meeting to reorganize for the ensuing year naming I. T. Gilmer as president A. D. Stewart as vice president L. M. Davis as secretary and treasurer along with Sam Phillips H. L. Morrison J. T. Rickman and Edgar McLendon on the executive committee The group organized about a year ago and reports handling about 200 charity cases last year with around 850 dollars spent Finances are low prompting a forthcoming fundraising canvass The officers thank the community for support and cooperation.

The weekly pipeline report for Young County shows a rise from last period with a total of 72,350 barrels for the week, from daily 10,350 barrels. Bunger pool nears South Bend in output, with Bunger at about 5,000 barrels daily from 64 wells and South Bend slightly over 5,000 barrels from 184 wells. Some South Bend wells over two years old produce less, while deeper sands may boost output. County production may near 100,000 barrels weekly soon and there is belief of new pools being found shortly.

Frank Herron, one of Young County’s oldest settlers, traveled fourteen miles south of Graham to his old homestead in the new oil pool dubbed Herron City. Once frail, his strong return drew congratulations from old acquaintances and signals plans for regular visits. Drags Busy on Our Oil Field Roads
The Chamber of Commerce keeps the roads improved as moisture falls. A light shower near noon Wednesday prompted Secretary Walker to drag roads soon after the shower ended.
