Prominent Pioneer Dies After Short Illness
Rev. R. Lindsey a Baptist minister and longtime county resident died after a brief influenza illness at his College Heights home. He was eighty three and buried at Oak Grove Cemetery after services at First Baptist church conducted by Revs. Taylor and Black. He was a Confederate veteran and educator who shaped Young County schooling through many communities. Surviving children include Edward Lindsey Wichita Falls Frank Lindsey Anson Mrs. J. B. Terrell Newcastle Mrs. Herner New Mexico and Mrs. Pearl Mandeville Graham.

Worst Blizzard in 25 Years Sweeps Country
A severe blizzard raged across the north central states for 36 hours, dropping temperatures to record lows. From Chicago to the Rockies the storm is reported as the worst in 25 years, with people frozen to death and rail lines along with telegraph and telephone lines partially paralyzed. In Helena Montana the thermometer plunged from 24 above to 22 below in twelve hours.

Miss Ama Connally Dies at Markley Texas at Twelve
Miss Ama Connally daughter of Mrs Myra Connally died at home in Markley Texas on February 11 1923 after a brief illness at school. She was twelve years eight months and four days old and was the only child. A consecrated Baptist convert she attended church and Sunday school, leaving a message of gentle faith and a schoolmate note of sorrow.

Passenger Station Grounds to Be Beautified in Graham
The Commercial Secretary Judge D Walker and Rock Island superintendent Mr Sewell discussed depot grounds beautification in Graham last Friday. A plan envisions brick pavement extending to the main line, gravel walks with concrete curbs, terraced grassy areas with shade trees and shrubs, and a car parking space east of the baggage room. If engineers submit recommendations, an appropriation may be sought to fund the improvements, aiming to make the depot an attractive landmark for visitors.

The seven year old daughter of Mr Crum owner of the Domino Parlor on North Elm street died of pneumonia at 7 this morning. Funeral arrangements not yet made but likely Saturday when out of town relatives are expected to arrive.
Baptist Preacher Seeks Paper Address Change
Rev J L McCord a longtime Baptist preacher requests changing his paper address from Loving to Weslaco in a letter noting a severe winter spell and fear that fruit crops in the southern Texas town have been killed or badly damaged by frost and freeze.

City Council Delays Action on Under Fourteen Driving Ban
At the last council meeting officials urged enforcing the state law prohibiting children under fourteen from driving autos. Since it is a state law no action was taken beyond referring the matter to authorities who announced the law will be enforced and that youths will not be allowed to drive cars here.
Death of Four Year Old Boy Recalled in Graham Visit
W L Graves traveled to Graham last week after receiving word of the death of his nephew, a four year old child of Mr and Mrs McCloud. The boy was injured during the Christmas holidays when he fell into a bucket of hot water and died after lingering in suffering, passing peacefully in the Everlasting Arms.

Seven white robed Ku Klux Klan figures appeared at the grave of Rev R Lindsey during funeral services last Sunday. The procession formed around the head and foot of the grave as the leader offered a prayer with a large red cross displayed. A card marked 1866-1923 lay at the foot, indicating possible ancestral Klan membership.
