Watermelon Mailed Parcel Post From Jacksboro
Earl Clark of Rural Route No 1 received a watermelon by parcel post last Friday. Mailed at Jacksboro by Paul Plaster of Bryson the melon weighed about twenty five to thirty pounds and arrived in fine shape with no noticeable bruising.

Woodmen Visit Galveston Encampment Return
The Woodmen degree team from the local lodge returned Sunday night from the State Encampment in Galveston. They left August 15 with the remains of Sovereign J. W. Taliaferro to Ardmore Oklahoma for burial. Two thousand one hundred Woodmen attended the encampment and the Graham team reported a delightful time.

Man slays four and a half foot diamond rattler
Tipton Smith, nine miles east of town, brought a large rattlesnake to Graham last Sunday night. The diamond rattler had ten rattles and measured four and one half feet. It coiled in the road and fought back before Smith knocked it down with rocks. He delivered the head to Edgar Flint for belt-quality hide curing.

Death of Miss Sarah J. Hoilman in Rochester
Mrs. Jonas Ely received a telegram announcing the death of her sister Miss Sarah J. Hoilman at her Rochester New York home from heart failure. She was sixty nine. Miss Hoilman had visited Mrs. Ely and was remembered by many here. If alive she would have joined Mrs. Ely in Graham next month. Her passing leaves Mrs. Ely as the sole surviving family member, the youngest of seven siblings.
