Graham opens a new ice plant completed after months of construction. Three new engines run smoothly as Monday afternoon marks the start of the summer season with a capacity of twenty five tons daily and forty seven tons of storage. The plant uses distilled water boiled for purity and ammonia cooling with a brine-filled vat to achieve deep freezing.
At 9 45 a m Bible School led by Minister B F Stallings with H L Tidwell as superintendent Preaching at 11 a m and 8 p m Morning sermon Christ and Our Country Evening subject Judaism vs Christianity Worship with us all are invited.
The pupils of Miss Ruth Isaacs will present a piano recital at the school auditorium Friday evening at 8 30 o'clock. All are cordially invited to attend.
The United States and Mexico see little progress this week as Brazil Argentina and Chile offer to mediate and seek peace grounds. The U S continues preparations for war while many Americans in Mexico depart amidst the lull. Our soldiers still hold Vera Cruz.
The Methodist church will dedicate next Sunday morning’s service to honoring mothers. If mother is living, attend in person. if she has passed away, come in memory of her. All children are invited to attend. J. Hall Bowman.
The Rexall Store is remodeling this week to install a fine soda fountain and up to date fixtures. Shelves on the south wall are moved to the back creating more space for ice cream and cold drinks as summer approaches. The change is expected to draw strong patronage from the start.
The Don't Worry Club met Friday afternoon with Mrs. N. F. Mc Cain in a lively session despite threatening weather. R. V. Tidwell and Parrish won club favors, Miss Mildred Tidwell sang, piano numbers entertained, and refreshments were served to guests including Mrs. McLendon, Scarborough, Evans Mabry, Parrish, Pohlman, Widmayer, Marshall, and Mrs. C. B. Jones. The next meeting is at Mrs. Walter Burns on Friday May 1.
Everett Harrell and Miss Lelia V. McCluskey were married at the bride’s parents’ home in South Bend last Sunday evening with Rev. M. M. Chunn officiating. The couple, popular in South Bend, receive best wishes for happiness and prosperity from many friends nationwide.
A car load of Graham Supreme Flour was sent to Holland last week from the Graham Mill and Elevator Co in our city. The flour was packed in 203 pound jute sacks as with the earlier Cuba shipment. Sacks of jute protect the flour from salt air aboard ships. Graham should be proud of its flouring mills.
All regular services will be held at the Baptist church Sunday with the pastor preaching at eleven o'clock in the morning on Woman's Place in the Kingdom and at seven forty five in the evening on A Fast Young Man. Sunday School attendance has been the best in the past month and everyone is cordially invited.
Judge W FE Prescott will address Graham voters on Friday evening May 8 in support of his Congressional candidacy in the Jumbo District against Hon. John H Stephens.
