Oil activity spreads with Hughes place south of South Bend starting last week using water wells. Colcord Company plans to drill next, piping delivered and a rotary rig used on S M J Benson’s ranch north of Jean. Andrews well yields seven barrels daily, Sugar Hollow expected to begin work, Proffitt area and Colcord leases noted at about 15 dollars per acre.

Walter Johnson Dies After Wagon Accident Near Wynnewood
Walter Johnson died in a sanitarium in Oklahoma City at 4 o clock last Tuesday morning from injuries suffered when a wagon overturned at his Wynnewood home late Saturday afternoon. He never regained consciousness. an operation was considered but deemed futile. Johnson, 35, was raised in the county and lived in Wynnewood for about three years with his wife and six children. He leaves a mother in Olney, two brothers J W Johnson of Olney and C C Johnson of this city, and a sister Mrs Marvin Averitt of Olney.

Child Burned By Gasoline Lamp Explosion In South Bend
Three year old daughter of Mr and Mrs G W Crabtree seriously burned on back and neck when a lamp filled with gasoline exploded and clothing caught fire last Saturday night in South Bend.
