Oil Developments In South Bend Field Near May Start
Reliable reports say aigual drilling will begin in the South Bend field within ten days or by May first. Colcord plans include upgrading the derrick, laying pipe to the Clear Fork river, and pumping water with a six horsepower engine to power the drill. Multiple rigs and tanks have been erected on Tom and Walter Corbett’s, Will Corbett’s, and Andrews properties, with up to two thousand feet of drilling anticipated in sixty days once water and rain conditions allow.

Chautauqua Circle Holds Texas Day Meeting
The Chautauqua Literary and Scientific Circle held its annual Texas Day on Wednesday April 18 at Mrs Z A Hudsons home. Members enjoyed a decor themed with flowers flags and a prominent portrait of President Wilson. Mrs Griffinh presented a paper on the Chautauqua plan and Institute. Refreshments included creamed chicken with peas perfection salad and apricot sherbet for about forty guests. A large flag from the Spanish American War era was on display courtesy of veteran R F Fowler.
