Flier Sets Off Across Atlantic in Modest Monoplane
Swedish aviator Carl Backman started a voyage from America toward Sweden from Botwood Newfoundland at 5 10 a m local time aboard a 90 horsepower single motored monoplane. The craft has a cruising speed of 110 miles an hour and carried minimal radio and instruments. French trans Atlantic airliner begins trial flight to New York
The French airliner Lieutenant De Vaisseau Paris departed Viscarosse for New York on a trial flight via Lisbon and the Azores. The six motor craft carried eight crew members.
