April Coal Shipments Set Postwar Records on Monongah
April coal shipments from northern West Virginia reached postwar highs, the Baltimore and Ohio said. Martinsville Virginia death sentences were handed down by Judge Kennon C. Whittle for seven Black men convicted of raping Mrs. Ruby Stroud Floyd. Flemington Man Is Sentenced Under New Drunk Driving Law
George Baxter of Route 2 Flemington was sentenced to six months in jail under the new drunken driving second-offense law effective March 11. His license is revoked for 10 years. Baxter pleaded guilty to the May 2 charge after State Trooper E I Duckworth cited him for operating a hard roadster on Route 7.
