The forecast calls for fair conditions tonight with a low around 24 to 28. Tuesday will be partly cloudy and windy with a high near 74. Sunday is expected to reach 67 with a low of 39. Morning temperature around 30 at 11 a.m. today.
The Taylor County Garden Club staged its inaugural Christmas Greens Show at the Hotel Grafton dining room, drawing about 130 attendees despite cold weather. Judges awarded prizes for horticulture, evergreen arrangements, and table decorations, with a luncheon at Andrews Methodist church and a related bazaar offering festive decor.
A local petition circulated to Postmaster General Arthur E. Summerfield seeks restoration of Grafton’s lost star mail routes. It argues current delays harm residents as out of town newspapers arrive late and magazines and first class mail arrive slower. Only two star routes remain to Elkins and Moatsville, costing the economy an estimated $100,000 yearly.

Vienna reports say about 10 000 armed Hungarian freedom fighters from the Corvin Legion are in a pitched battle with Soviet troops north of Budapest. Led by Maj Gen Bel Karoly, they attacked Russian tanks and infantry after martial law was declared, with additional clashes near the Pees coal region and Atlabanya mining area.
John Edwin Wallace, 7, a noted butter sculptor known for creating cow figures for world and state fairs, died at his Deland home Sunday. The artist had gained recognition in the dairy and culinary communities for his edible art.

US Secretary of State John Foster Dulles arrived in Paris for a four day NATO minsters gathering. He stressed unity on key matters while NATO contends with budget needs and rifts among allied members. Britain and France seek a Middle East policy aligning with US aims without broad arab state input.
