The Palo Alto County Solid Waste Transfer Station is officially open for rural residents and residents of towns sharing costs for operation. Located 2 miles north of Emmetsburg, hours are 9 to 6 Monday through Saturday with a noon to 1 lunch hour. Rules limit use to listed towns and rural residents with no charge for them. commercial use may incur fees. Only solid waste accepted. large items and hazardous waste not allowed. Vehicles must be covered. a $100 fine applies for near the site. Board of Supervisors may revise rules, effective upon publication. Adopted September 21, 1976.
