Funeral of S P Duhn Largely Attended
The funeral for S P Duhn drew a large crowd in Estherville as friends and neighbors honored a well known community figure. Born Soren Peter Dahn in Denmark, he died at Birney hospital after a brief illness from eosemic poisoning. Born 1859, he came to America in 1880 settling near Graettinger before moving elsewhere. Interment followed at South Walnut Cemetery with eight grandsons serving as pallbearers.

Fred Hartman Injured In Auto Accident Saturday
Fred Hartman a Rock Island section foreman was injured when Rubink’s car left a state road near J. A. Spies place Saturday night and tipped. Hartman suffered a severely injured hand and is off duty this week. Rubink Fleming and Wiegmann escaped injury. Glass broke and a fender damaged. Road resurfacing left loose gravel on the outside edge creating danger at night.

Delegation Presses Paving Plan For No 17 Route
A Graettinger Wal lingford Estherville and Emmetsburg business delegation traveled to Ames to ask the Highway Commission to pave the gap on No 17 from Crippen corner to Wallingford. They received a 45 minute hearing and were told paving cannot occur this fall but will be considered early next year.
