Fire Company Responds to Early Saturday Garage Blaze
The local fire company was called at about one o clock Saturday morning to extinguish a fire in the Jensen Auto Co garage. Sawdust and oil burned but the fire was quickly put out with no damage. The cement block garage with steel siding and a concrete floor was sparked by a short circuit in a trouble lamp. Ray Glazier and Marshal Wm Blom discovered the blaze from the Glazier restaurant across the street. A week earlier the fire company faced a threat at the Martin Myhre home from gasoline escaping a pressure stove.

Needle removed from Jackson area boy’s back
Herbert Howell 12 son of Mr and Mrs O C Howell of seven miles NW of Jackson had a needle removed from his back at Coleman hospital Triday after finding the needle in his flesh. X rays showed it had penetrated deep and operation was required to extract it.

Canadian Farm Prices Are Low Gasoline High
Mr and Mrs E L Wagner recently complete a 3000 mile trip through the north states and Canada reaching Prince Albert about 400 miles past the border. They found half the country had fair crops while the other half suffered poor yields with some areas in southern Canada showing no crops at all. Gasoline cost 36 cents a gallon in Canada. Crop prices were lower than in the United States.

Mrs Baumgartner Sickness Improves After Illness
Mrs Baumgartner became seriously ill Saturday morning and was unconscious with a high fever. She improved Sunday and early in the week regained strength. Her daughter Mildred returned from Chicago to be with her, and Mrs Baumgartner's friends hope she will soon be well again.
Des Moines Man Fined After Stop Sign Incident
A Des Moines man was halted for driving through a stop sign and asked to post a dollar bond. He refused and demanded a trial, was found guilty, and fined ten dollars. He objected to the fine and was fined fifteen dollars for objecting.
