In home making classes students study fibers from natural cotton wool and silk to man made types. They learn thermoplastic versus non thermoplastic fibers and how heat affects permanent pleats. Nylon offers elasticity quick dry and bulk options. A labeling law now requires fiber content and care instructions on yard goods and garments. Students plan a card file to store this fiber and care information.
