Local Army nurses prepare for London posting
First Lt. Julia Chrestiansen and First Lt. Mary Ann Pearson of Columbus Olle arrived last Tuesday to visit Julia's mother Mrs Albert Chrestiansen and family. On Wednesday they toured Lake Bronson Minnesota to visit Mary Ann's parents for a few days. On October 1 they will leave New York for London England for three years with the Army Airforce Nurses Reserve. Don Robinson visited over the weekend at his grandparents home after returning from Germany and starting an apprentice plumbing course in Sioux City. The Bormann silver wedding was celebrated with relatives from Emmetsburg and Libherville. new great grandchildren Mary Beth and Natalie Marie were introduced. John Elsenbast fractured his left leg when a horse bolted last Wednesday evening and is recovering in hospital. Bertha Bortini was hospitalized after a fall on basement steps and is recovering after hip pins were placed.

Graettinger council stalls night marshal appointment
The September 7 1960 Graettinger council meeting opened with no current night marshal after Elmer Riemer declined less than 250 per month. Salary votes failed and the mayor planned further search. Atty Chas Barlow was retained for sidewalk orders while permits were issued for water sewer work and various financial items were approved before adjournment.
