Labor Day night drew an exceptionally large crowd as ideal weather favored Graettinger for the 34th annual celebration. The day crowd ran under average, but evening events drew cars into town and filled the streets. Henry Kathman 82 died at his home northwest of town on Thursday morning after a long illness. He was born in Hamburg Germany and immigrated to the United States over fifty years ago settling in Carroll county Iowa. Survived by two daughters and four sons, funeral held Saturday at Immaculate Conception church with Rev. Father Kelly officiating. Burial beside his wife in Catholic cemetery.

Injured Labor Day At Viborg
Selmar Nelson of Lost Island and Palmer Frettem of Gracttinger drove to Sioux Falls yesterday afternoon. Nelson was summoned after a message said his cousin Clarence Nelson of Viborg SD lay in serious condition at McKennon hospital. Nelson works for the high line company at Viborg. He was exposed to a high voltage wire on Monday. He is about 30, married with two boys.

Emmetsburg Democrat reports supervisor Fred Smith died suddenly after illness while at Ayrshire County. He was an early Ruthven settler, lived on a farm, then town resident. Survived by Mrs Smith in California and three sons and one daughter. He served as supervisor, currently in his second term. Funeral arrangements not yet learned.

The Fairmont militia responded and the Mexican was driven from his shack with tear gas bombs. his body was riddled with bullets.
