The Labor Day events in Graettinger faced transport hiccups as a ferris wheel and merry-go-round failed to arrive from Amboy Minnesota. After delays, a new outfit reached Garner by railcars and a Lakota ferris wheel was shipped by truck to Graettinger arriving on time. The day featured a Hawkeye theatre program, musical dances, and a free Ford car giveaway won by Irvin J. Foy editor of the Ruthven Free Press. The town praised Mayor Jensen for enforcing orderly concessions and residents enjoyed the Homecoming and Old Settlers Reunion amid strong attendance and social pride.

Mansanger's 21 Month Old Hurt in Clothes Wringer
The 21 month old son of Mr and Mrs T Mansanger on the Jacobson farm south of town had his arm caught in a clothes wringer. The machine tore flesh to the shoulder but no bones broke. He was taken to Estherville hospital for extended treatment and doctors may have to amputate.
