Graettinger Labor Day Celebrations Move East of Town

Records show the Graettinger Labor Day series began at Wells Grove east of Osgood in 1897 with a small organizing group led by late P. H. Donlon. In 1898 free watermelons and apples were offered, and cleanup of rinds and cores was a significant task before the event moved east of Graettinger between the town and the Des Moines River.
