A swamp southwest of Lost Island Lake known as the growing pond is opened to hunters along with nesting grounds formerly the Dewey pasture and lands adjacent to Lost Island lake. Green Slough, confiscated years ago, remains a public hunting area. all sites will be signposted with game laws and regulations.

Expert chicken thief faces term in Minnesota jail
Bamilio Valasuaz, alias Louis Harper, a Mexican resident of this city, was brought from Des Moines to Blue Earth Minnesota to answer a charge of stealing chickens. He confessed to stealing from mixed flocks across a hundred mile area from Estherville and claimed to have sold or taken hundreds of hatchery chicks bought last spring.
