The Hawkeye Theatre was packed for the Junior class play Listen to Leon a tale of a charming doctor whose yarns mislead yet end happily The cast led by Donald Bartleman Ruth Amdahl Mary Ellen and Norman Peterson delivered strong performances Vocal numbers by Gib Reeves and the boys quartet added to the evening The production coached by Miss Vivian Kelly and Joel Bull earned hearty congratulations from The Times.

Snow and chill linger in central Towa after early fall hits

This fall has seen little snow in Towa with an inch at Guarner on October 2. Early this week brought snow at Fort Dolpe and central and southern Towa. Sunday to Tuesday were cool and rainy, then Wednesday dawned sunny. American Legion Auxiliary members Clara Suss, Mrs. Fitzman, and Mrs. Swanson attended the district conference at Fort Dodge, reporting a well attended meeting.

Graettinger high school defeated Gilmore City 7 to 0 on Friday afternoon. Donald Bartleman raced in for the lone touchdown, with Alvin Mills adding the extra point. Sub Wayne Dappen appeared. Coach Behrens and Ball praised the team’s rapid improvement. A PTA talk by Dr. G W Keerney of Mallard on health followed, with musical numbers and a 10 cent lunch. large attendance and an enjoyable evening.

Meeting of Standard Co. at Spencer Draws Graettinger Attendance

A Spencer gathering of Standard Oi Denters executives drew strong attendance from Graettinger including Roy Lundgren Frank Herke and Art Ritazman. The meeting was largely attended and deemed very successful. The Standard will market a new gag on November 15 with full details to be announced soon.

Notre Dame Beats Pitt In South Bend Contest

J P OBrien of Chicago attended the Notre Dame vs Pitt game at South Bend with about 62,000 in attendance and seats for 6,000 more. Notre Dame, weakened by Robinson’s departure, led at times but Pitt showed early promise. Pitt’s second half surge faded as Notre Dame controlled play, and a late fumble by a Notre Dame second team ball carrier marred the finish.

Cap Nelson Robbed of $22 by a Kidnapper Near Emmetsburg

County treasurer Caoper Nelson, mistaken for Pim and Cooke, was seized by a tall dark thief near the Rev M Nerney home and driven to the Prank Menny farm where he was relieved of $22. He was tied with cloths and freed himself, notifying authorities who found no clue to the bandit’s identity. The robber fled toward the Means farm after warning he planned to kidnap Cook.

McNew Weds Milford Woman in October Covenant

Paul McNew and Miss Wynonna Olson were married October 16 at 2 PM in the Mt Spirit Lake M I parsonage with Rev. Thomas Collins officiating. Attendants were Mr and Mrs Wayne Olson. Kraschel To Speak At Ringsted Monday

Lieut. Gov. Nelson G. Kraschel of Des Moines will address Ringsted Monday afternoon October 28 after the Emmet county corn husking contest. Dr. G W Darnell heads the committee and announced the selection last week. The husking contest begins at ten in the morning with the speaking program in Ringsted that afternoon. Kraschel previously spoke at the Grachtinger Labor Day celebration two years ago.

A G Barber Injured In Truck Crash

A G Barber sustained cuts and shock after a Des Moines Municipal Construction Co truck collided with Barber’s truck on Highway 18 near inmetsburg around 1 a.m. Friday. The Des Moines vehicle wrecked in a ditch and burned. Barber’s enclosed trailer remained intact. Barber and two companions were returning from Boston via Louisville and Waterloo. six occupants survived with minor injuries.

Ayrshire Man in Accident Injures Kibbie Family

John Kibbie of Ayrshire suffered a severely injured face when his 1924 Ford struck a culvert near the Joe Kibbie farm southeast of Ayrshire at 1 30 pm Wednesday. One daughter was ejected about fifty feet landing in a ditch. a leg bone near the ankle was broken. The child’s facial injuries were not serious. Kibbie was taken to Emmetsburg hospital for surgery.
