Paul Bunyan the legendary lumberjack of myth and mythic feats
A humorous antiquarian essay traces Paul Bunyan from Maine to the West as a symbolic super lumberjack. It chronicles Babe the blue ox, Benny the calf, Lucy the cow, and the Seven Axmen, blending tall tales with early American logging lore. The piece notes evolving lumber camps, collegiate lumberjacks, and the myth’s growth through books and local tradition.
