Spencer's Big Fair Draws Thousands Despite Weather
Hundreds from Groet-Hinger and surrounding areas attended Spencer's Clay County fair last week. The 1926 program ran Tuesday to Saturday with heavy rain reducing turnout, yet Thursday set a record with 85,000 paid admissions. Harness racing and show exhibits drew crowds, while livestock and livestock buildings expanded to accommodate growth, signaling Spencer’s fair becoming a major Iowa event despite weather challenges.
