Lawrence Martin, baby son of Mrs. Hendricks, of this city, died about four o'clock Wednesday morning after a short illness. About ten o'clock Tuesday forenoon the lame was taken violently ill.

The death of Mrs. David Baker is reported after months of illness. She recently improved, then worsened, and died at 3 o'clock this morning. Funeral services will be held at her son Arthur’s home in Vernon township at 1 PM and at the Emmetsburg Methodist church at 2:30 PM Saturday. Further details will follow next week.

Sando family members, Olson, and companions were in a Ford when a Maxwell driven by John Mick struck from behind, damaging vehicles and pinning some passengers. Herman Warland’s wagon crash near the Opera House injured him and scratched Jorgen Ruther. A third crash between Thos Jensen’s car and a buggy near the river bridges disrupted traffic. ten dynamite sticks in the buggy did not explode, with minor injuries reported. All three wrecks were deemed surprisingly lucky in outcome.

Reception for Grachtinger teachers by PTA at J A Spies home
The annual PTA reception for Grachtinger school teachers was held at the J A Spies home due to rain. About thirty five attended. Reverend Cuthbert gave an address which Prof Moore and others praised. Agnes Spies performed piano pieces. Mrs Tipp read a paper. Refreshments followed. Next meeting set for Mrs Lewis Christensen's home on the first Tuesday in November.
