Kron Cousin Dies Suddenly in Sherburne Minnesota

John Kron, 65, died suddenly at his Sherburne home Sunday evening after a short illness. Funeral services were held at Sherburne and his remains buried in the cemetery at Wabb, Clay County. He is survived by two sons. the Kron family lived in the area years ago before moving in 1899. Hans Kron, his father, once owned the local farm later occupied by S. E. Sandvig. The community expresses regret at his sudden death.

Mrs T J Duffy Involved In Fall Breaking Arm

Mrs T J Duffy suffered a broken arm Friday night after a fall caused by her shoe catching on a stop. The injury was painful and will require several weeks to heal, and friends express regret over her misfortune.

Fahnestock Park Accepted By City Council

City council voted to accept the deed for a park donated by Preston Fahnestock to Graetlinger. The grounds west of the Hawkeye Theatre will be used as a city park with liquor sale prohibition and no marker naming Fahnestock. The park is seen as a valued addition to the town, honoring Graettinger pioneer Mr. Fahnestock who built the first creamery and a general store. His daughter, Mrs. H Leslie Wildey, lives in Los Angeles.

First Lutheran Ladies Bazaar Saturday October 6

The First Lutheran church will hold its annual bazaar in the church basement on Saturday October 6. A chicken supper starts at 6:40 p.m. and continues until served with chicken, meat loaf, potatoes, gravy, cabbage salad, pickles, tomatoes, pie and coffee. Lunch will be served in the afternoon and many useful and ornamental articles will be on sale in the afternoon. A cordial invitation is extended to all.

Mrs John Griffin Died At Waterloo in Wartime Notice

Mrs John Griffin formerly of Gratlinger passed away in Waterloo on Friday at age 82. Survived by sons Patrick and Ray. The family moved several times after Mr Griffin’s death in 1918 and have lived in Waterloo for years. The Times extends sympathy to the surviving sons.

Mission Opened At Catholic Church Sunday

A mission is in progress at the Catholic church this week. It opened at the ten o'clock mass Sunday morning and will end with special exercises next Sunday evening. Father Charles Cassidy of Des Moines conducts the mission and is noted as a Passionist preacher and elocution instructor. Services run nightly at 7 20 with morning masses at 6 30 and 8 00.

Graettinger Beats Royal 6-0 In Friday Football

Graettinger high school defeated Royal 6 to 0 on Livergreen Field with a close score. A kickoff fumble and a near touchdown were negated by penalties. The team secured the lone score in the second quarter as Gage Wink powered in for yardage. Royal failed to threaten after multiple fumbles and interceptions. Graettinger next meets Terris on Friday at Terris with Milford and Harris games to follow.

Cambridge Woman, 81, Mother of Mrs. James Robinson

Mrs. John Henrick of Cambridge Iowa aged 81 died Tuesday September 25 after a illness. Mrs. Robinson learned of her mother’s serious condition Monday night and hastened to Cambridge. The funeral was held Friday with Robinson family members and Mr and Mrs Lee Robinson in attendance. The community extends sympathy to Mrs. Robinson.

Household Goods At Auction Here Saturday

Clarence Jenking will hold a sale of household goods at the Glenn Shaver residence just south of the Tile factory Saturday October 6. Sale will start at two o'clock sharp. A complete description of the property is given in a display ad in today's paper. Fire fighters called out Graettinger responded to a fire at Levi Olson farm home Monday shortly after the noon hour. An overheated entry caused anxiety but damage was limited.
