Dubuque Man Killed Instantly In Auto Wreck
James R. Matthews 23 son of Intervilge Matthews of Dubuque was killed near Whittemore Monday morning when the auto drove off a four foot embankment. Mrs Matthews and three children escaped injury as the vehicle toppled and crushed his skull and broke his neck. The body was sent to Dubuque. The driver was Mrs Matthews. A rear tire came off causing loss of control.

Sipes Sentenced to Hang Taken to Fort Madison
J and Sips was moved to the Fort Madison state penitentiary after a death sentence. Sheriff Lidman and agents accompanied the prisoner in a transfer that included Des Moines and Port Madison.
