Farmers Trust and Savings Bank Closed Today at Emmetsburg
Farmers Savings Bank in Emmetsburg closed this morning by order of the board. No reserve reason given. The bank had previously drawn from depositors to cover a waived amount and will not declare dividends until paid in full. Emmetsburg now has only the National Bank. the Farmers bank was the last to close. Eight years ago the town had four banks. all have since closed.

Thirteen Hours Devotions At Assumption Church
Thirteen hours devotional exercises at Assumption church Sunday were well attended. High mass opened at night and a sermon by Father Kelly of Graettinger followed benediction at nine. His talk on prayer stressed that many great men were prayerful and God assists those who seek help. Father Kelly, a veteran diocesan priest, impressed listeners. Others assisting included Father Conway of Batherville, Father Sellig of Laurens, Pathis McNerney, Dunn of Ayrshire, and Father Murtagh. Communicants attended the early Masses Monday.

Ann Spies Injured In Car Start Accident
Ann Spies, two year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Charles Spies, sustained a forehead cut when she started her father's car Thursday. Taken to Coleman hospital, the wound required several stitches. The child slipped from the seat while alone in the Ford, pressing the gas lever, hitting the clutch, and steering into a barn and back, making her the youngest driver in Graattinger.

The M E church held a large reception in the Hawkeye theatre basement Wednesday for new pastor Rev. Fremont Faul and his family. Members decorated in Halloween colors, enjoyed a seven o'clock dinner and a prepared program. Dr L L Lindsey welcomed the Fauls. Rev. Faul spoke in reply. Gifts were presented, and attendees exchanged greetings, marking a warm community welcome. The Crago Players also performed at the Hawkeye theatre last week and will return with Disappearing Jimmie on November 17.

Turnips Grow To Enormous Sizes In Local Growers
Lake Brothers brought a giant turnip to the Times office claiming it was about as large as a pump. They report 20 bushels of turnips raised this year with several attaining enormous size. Lost Boy Found After Night Missing Near Clear Lake
A nine year old boy from Clear Lake wandered off on an errand to a grocery and did not return. Neighbors and a large posse searched rail rights of way and nearby spots until about nine o clock when the boy was found asleep on his own porch under blankets. He had lost his money and returned home to rest.

Mrs Christopher Injured In Stair Fall At Home
Mrs Christopher suffered a fracture of the right arm a sprained wrist and a severe scalp wound after falling down the stairway at her home in the early hours of Saturday. She was reaching for a light switch in darkness and plunged head first to the bottom. Six stitches closed the scalp wound and another stitch closed a wound over the eye. The eye was swollen shut for days and bloodshot though sight remains. She was badly bruised and shaken and not yet able to be about. Friends express sincere regret.

Albert Luke Raises 400 Bushels of Potatoes
