Stevensons Leave Graettinger for Forest City Business
CG. W. Stevenson resigned after five years as Graettinger public schools superintendent to open a new variety store in Forest City. He leased a building and four residences, redecorating the store as his son to stock with an entirely new assortment. Forest City, the Winnebago county seat near Hancock county, serves a large trade area and Waldorf College is located there. The Stevensons and their daughter have lived in Graettinger since 1926, contributing to academic, athletic, declamatory, and musical successes and active local religious and social life. Citizens wish them well in their new venture.

Three Men Injured As Rafters Fell At Lutheran Church
An accident at a new Lutheran church Monday afternoon injured Clarence Clemmensen Jorgen Anderson and John Weir when eleven heavy rafters collapsed from the staging. Clemmensen suffered a head wound and later stiffness. Anderson endured a bruised back arm and possible ankle sprain. Weir had a badly injured nose and ankle. The fall occurred about two o'clock during peak-rafters raising. all three were treated and are described as lucky to survive.

A Ford coupe crashed into a concrete bridge on State Road two miles north of Graettinger early Sunday killing Lawrence Sampson, 22, of Ruthven, and injuring Al Brothers, 32, and Mrs. Pete Tertipes. Brothers walked away. Tertipes was trapped briefly. The trio were taken to Emmetsburg hospital. Sampson died that afternoon. The car was towed to Jensen garage. the wreck drew hundreds as mechanics anticipated repairs.
