The fourth annual boy’s and girls’ institute in Batherville attracted thousands beyond the county’s 4000 Emmet pupils. Exhibits showcased school handiwork, with lectures by Marie Sorum, I T Bode, N Davin, and Paul C. Packer among others. Notable speakers included Mine Ivy Kendrick and Miss Edith Countryman. music by Eleanor Orvis and various school choirs highlighted a high caliber program ending with inspirational closing exercises.

Rural school institute closes with prizes and concert
Children led by Prof. Irving Delfe earned singing prizes across sessions at the rural schools institute. High school winners Dolliver and Wallingford took firsts in separate classes. Dorothy Tep pard Ringsted Gladys Shook Gruver and Shirley Bryan Maple TH won prizes and a dictionary. County band concert closed the program with Emmet county youths joining. Commendations came from Firestone Ford and Edison. Local visits followed by Mrs Stevenson and Mrs Truesdell families.
