Funeral Of Mrs Emmet Moore Held Monday
The Graettinger community learned with sorrow that Mrs Emmet Moore died Friday after two weeks of illness following an appendicitis operation. Funeral services were held Monday at Estherville Catholic church with burial beside her husband. Born Sarah Josephine Lillard in 1870, she married G Moore in 1888 and moved to Emmet county in 1890 then Estherville in 1916. Survived by son Ray and daughter Mrs M R McTigue, sisters Hattie Granger and Rose Shilley, and brother B F Lilliard, she was remembered as cheerful hospitable and devoted wife and mother. The Times extends sympathy to the family.

Trees Planted in Fort Defiance State Park
The Fort Defiance State Park planting event last Thursday added twenty eight trees donated by Mr. George the Graettinger nurseryman. Participants included Mesdames Rhales Gordon Wood and Messrs Letchford Biedermann Gordon. The list spans many species and notes not all will be permanent due to road planning. Citizens thank Mr. George for his generous donation to the park. Lars Egesos argues only taxpayers should vote on a general tax and contends that women’s enfranchisement originated in the east to bolster property tax support. He notes tax increases over the last decade and cites concurrent improvements.

Vernon Township Man Dies After Moonshine Poisoning
A Vernon township man Jake Dykstra 28 died after consuming moonshine bought from D A Sibrel. Two companions also sickened, Sibrel fled and is sought by Sheriff Shea. Dykstra formerly from Holland was buried at Ringsted. The incident warns against illegal liquor with manslaughter penalties possible. May Cream scoring reported with averages and high scores.

Should Deposit Their Money In Graettinger B F McFarland urges bank deposits to be safe while a letter argues against a state guarantee law. Bankers will vacation on May 20 1924 as Algona hosts a bankers meeting. Otto Peterson injured his left hand when his motorcycle chain severed the third finger on the first joint. The accident occurred about three miles from town and required treatment.

The carnival at the Hawkeye Theatre Friday evening drew good attendance despite wet roads. Attractions mirrored typical county fair fun and the event benefited the M. E. Ladies' Aid society.

Voters approve ten thousand bond for school expansion
In a special election Graettinger voters endorsed a 10000 bond to enlarge the grade school by adding two rooms and upgrading the ventilating system. Turnout was light at 173 of 600. bids will be advertised, with separate bids for different work classes. Local labor is expected. The gymnasium remains unfunded for now.
