The total good expense for 1926 shows that good roads cost a vast fortune. Over thirty million dollars was spent last year on Town roads and bridges. Nearly 10,000,000 was spent on primary roads, $8,000,000 on township roads, and $6,000,000 on county roads. Bridges on primary roads cost $2,000,000 and on county roads $6,000,000. While thirty million dollars is a vast sum, it represents an expenditure of only $268.46 per mile on the roads of Iowa.

A Clear Lake boy sat on a gas drum which rose six feet and exploded after two boys moved a gasoline barrel to a fire. The blast shattered windows and caused general havoc. One boy escaped uninjured while the other suffered minor burns to the hand.

Ed Stewart Injured by Horse Accident Last Thursday
