Lula Besaw Hurt Crossing Street in Graettinger
Thirteen year old Lula Besaw was struck by a truck driven by E P Duhn as she crossed Robbins Avenue near the center parking area. The wheel passed over her wrist causing a fracture while other injuries were minor and she was treated at Dr None’s office. The driver slowed and the incident occurred around noon. Besaw, daughter of A H Besaw, attends the local school and is recovering with support from friends. In a separate note, Halvor Egezos and his children left Graettinger for Norway to establish a future home there following his wife’s death last February. The family heads to New York to sail onward with relatives awaiting them.

Prompt Work Avert Fire Disaster in Dr Burdick Building
Tuesday morning amid fierce wind and sand storm Graettinger residents faced a near disaster when the Dr Burdick building roof housing Gilbough and Clemmensen caught fire. A bucket brigade and a self-organized group led by Bert Barrett Roy Gilbaugh and Clarence Clemmensen quickly extinguished the blaze before an alarm could be filed. A four foot square roof hole and falling embers threatened two adjacent wooden structures.

Hydraulic Ram Installed On Flannery Farm Near Graettinger
D. C. Borringer installed a hydraulic ram on the Flannery farm east of Graettinger to pump water for the large stock farm. The device uses river flow to operate, diverting two thirds of the supply to power the pump and delivering one third to tanks atop the hill. Barringer feeds 908 head of hogs and will soon ship them to market.

Skow Family Returns From California Vacation Trip
Mr and Mrs Nels Skow and their son Alfred arrived by auto from Long Beach California Thursday evening after a nine day journey. They faced muddy stretches near Spencer amid heavy spring rain. They toured California during the winter and met Graettinger friends. their son John, an interior decorator, earned 60 to 90 dollars weekly there. The family enjoyed the homeward trip and were glad to be back among Graettinger friends.

W A Beymer a well known cloth ing merchant of Estherville died from inhaling carbon monoxide gas Tuesday morning. He was found under the foot board of his automobile with the motor running. It is believed he started the motor and crawled under for a minor repair as the garage doors were closed perhaps by high wind.

A largely attended Epworth League gathering was held at Woodman hall in Graettinger Tuesday evening.
