Remarkable memory feat by Earl Kooker in Maynard church program
Earl Kooker eight year old from Lost Island, Iowa, memorized and repeated Romans chapter 12 without prompting at a Maynard Presbyterian service. The junior Endeavor group, aided by Mrs. A S Rumbaugh, presented the "String of Pearls" including Psalms, the Lord's Prayer, Beatitudes, Ten Commandments, Bible books, and First Corinthians 13. Verne Gantenbein, three, recited Psalm Twenty Third. Earl is the son of D L Kooker and lives with his father in Magnanl.

Funeral of Nelia Christiansen in Lost Island township
The funeral of Miss Nelia Christiansen was held in Lost Island township Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock. The sermon theme was The Escaping Few from Revelation 10. The choir sang There Is No Disappointment There. Pallbearers were Henry Westergard Wilmer Joreson M E Racpe Oseir Theodore Olson and Hamlin Sunivig. Remains rest in Lost Island cemetery. She was born January 11, 1885 and died April 21, 1929 at her brother Charlie Christiansen's home. She had been deaf since age 12 and ill health for two years. Surviving relatives include her mother Mrs Lee Christianson six sisters and four brothers. The family expresses sincere sympathy to the mother and sorrowing relatives.

Crab catcher curios from Axelton bring Norfolk tale
A. A. Axelton sent a home made crab catcher to the Times office described as a crab catching device with two claw arms and a center recessed arm that released a spring to seize objects. He modeled it after Norwegain crab catching methods seen years ago and kept one as a souvenir. locals found it a curious artifact.
