Death of Emmetsburg resident John F. Galleger
John F. Galleger of Emmetsburg died at his home Sunday at 1 a m after a yearlong illness due to diabetes. Funeral high mass Tuesday at Assumption church with burial in St John s cemetery. Survived by his wife four sons and three daughters and one brother Patrick. He was a Palo Alto County pioneer noted for honesty thrift and civic service. Funeral attendance reflected his standing in the community.

Farm sold for 160 dollars per acre near Graettinger
Ole C. Peterson of Emmetsburg sold his quarter section farm three and a half miles west of Graettinger to Andrew Henningsen for 160 dollars per acre. The tract was bought four years ago at 125 dollars per acre and was described as finely improved. Peterson plans to buy again if a suitable location at a tempting price is found. Nelson is said to have recently sold his farm to Henningsen for 1450 dollars per acre.

Catherine Murphy born in Ireland in 1828 and aged 90 died in Emmetsburg after long bronchitis. Funeral at Assumption church in Emmetsburg with services by Very Rev P F Farrelly, burial in St Johns cemetery. She was sister of J T Sullivan of this place, widowed many years, and survived by four Sullivan brothers. She lived in Webster City Belmond Graettinger and finally Emmetsburg. Funeral Monday at nine o'clock.

The German spiked helmet, a trophy from the second battle of Ypres, was bid to $100,000 by Robert E. McDonnell of McDonnell & Co for Peter Doeler, then returned to the Liberty Loan committee.
