Funeral of Hans Matson Held Saturday

Hans Matson died April 17 1918 at his son Nes Matson’s home west of Graettinger at 79 years. The funeral was held Saturday at 2 pm at the M E church with Rev E M Cathcart officiating and interment in the M E cemetery east of town. Survived by wife and four sons and two daughters. The Times extends sincere sympathy to the family.

Death of NineYearOld Arnold Thoresen in Estherville

Arnold Thoresen, about nine, son of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Thoresen of Lost Island township, died at Estherville hospital last evening from appendicitis complications after appendix rupture and blood poisoning. Funeral arrangements were not yet made. The family has the sympathy of many friends.

Duhn Child Carl Dies At Five In Walnut Township

Carl P L Duhn, five years old, son of Mr and Mrs P L Duhn of southwest of Grachtin ger, passed away Saturday after a difficult winter illness. Funeral was Monday afternoon with burial in Danish Lutheran cemetery, Walnut township. The Times offers sympathy to the Duhn family on their loss.

Miss Kate Coakley Dies at Dubuque at Seventy

Miss Kate Coakley sister of Mrs. J. B. Lambe of Otter Creek died at Dubuque Sunday after a lingering illness. Funeral at Otter Creek with Catholic interment. Survived by four brothers in Jackson County and two sisters Mrs. Lambe and Mrs. Nolan. She lived with her sister for 25 years and was a devout Catholic. The Times extends sympathy to the family.

Golden Wedding Celebration for Bailey and Bailey in Royal

Mr and Mrs T L Bailey celebrate a golden wedding anniversary at Odd Fellows hall in Royal with about 200 guests. A mock marriage ceremony, a three course dinner, and generous gifts mark the day. Neighbors of Mr and Mrs Wagner for twelve years, the celebrants were long-time Royal residents.

Lutheran Mission Meeting Draws Crowds in City

A Lutheran Mission meeting was held at the Norwegian Lutheran church in the city with pastors from Rake Grover Estherville Ruthven leading. Attendees came from surrounding towns including Gotzen and Bode. The church was packed for morning, afternoon and evening services, and yesterday an offering of 7785 was collected for mission purposes.

Nels Gilbertson dies in Emmetsburg at 89

Nels Gilbertson long time Emmet county resident died last Thursday at his daughter Mrs M F Coonans home in Emmetsburg after a long illness. He was born in Christiania Norway August 31 1828 and came to America in 1864. He lived near Wallingford and is said to have served as local postmaster for years. Survived by wife three daughters and one son the family expresses sincere sympathy.
