The board of supervisors awarded the Emmetsburg to Mallard paving contract to L H Bauck and L P Brereton of Emmetsburg for about 3.40 per yard. The project, Federal Aid Project No 109, will widen the road to eighteen feet at an estimated total cost near 419,000 with two years for completion. Local capitalists back the venture as material and labor obligations are financed, and the plan includes an industrial railroad from the gravel pit to the road, extending toward Mallard as needed.
