Ballots must be ticket blanks in this year’s city election because no party caucuses occurred within the required fifteen day window. The Democrats held their caucus Wednesday evening while Republicans have not held theirs yet, forcing use of pencils for casting votes.
Local Knighta Knights of Pythias Convention
The Knights of Pythias held a successful convention in the local castle Monday evening. Candidates for Knight ranks were examined while first and second ranks were advanced. Refreshments at 11:30 p.m. and a social hour preceded resumed work, adjournment around 1:30 a.m. Attendance was unusually large and plans for a big social event on April 5th were announced for the local castle.

Leland Laughlin is home on furlough visiting his father Martin Laughlin and family of Emmetsburg. The six foot tall, 180 pound soldier served since 1917 with First division, was injured in France, and spent time at Fort Sheridan hospital before returning home safely. Also updates Miss Etta Bigley, a Red Cross nurse, recently deemed safe after fears she fell into Turkish hands during the conflict.
