Homeward Journey From California For Mr and Mrs Frank Johnson
Mr and Mrs Frank Johnson returned to Graettinger Monday evening after six months away. They left here in late September and began the return trip in early March with a brief stop in Denver and a two week visit with relatives in Nebraska. They praised Pasadena climate but noted heat at times, frost and occasional ice on outdoor water. Johnson described California frost protection in orange groves, new potatoes harvested last December, and abundant fruit. He observed California is not a laboring man’s place, with ten job seekers per opening, and noted the Graettinger colony friends are enjoying life in the west.
