A morning chimney fire at the C C Larsen residence was quickly checked. Sparks reaching the roof alarmed Carl Spies junior who alerted the family. Al Larsen ascended to the roof as the fire department was summoned and Mrs A J Johnson brought water to him. Damage was limited and the incident considered fortunate.

Tribune Telegram reports Cincinnati capital backing Buckeye Hydro Electric to build a vast dam in Meigs and adjacent counties. The scheme would flood 60,000 to 75,000 acres, condemn 1,141 parcels including the village of Chester, and create a large lake and summer resort. A government armor plate factory site is sought. one North Dakota engineer sparked the study, visiting Chester and advising on flood control. The plan aims to supply thousands of horsepower and connect the Ohio valley to distant cities.

Uncle of Mrs Gredland Dies in Ohio
Eugene Ruth, uncle of Mrs. M O Gredland, died of pneumonia in Cleveland Ohio on February 15. Interment was in Manderville Minnesota, his old home, though he had lived recently in Mitchell South Carolina. He was visiting his son in Cleveland and spent time in Graettinger last fall enroute to Cleveland. A pleasant gentleman, his loss is deeply regretted.

Sheriff Tracks Missing Contractor On Route To Fostoria

Dr B T Osher of Estherville returned Monday evening to see local relatives. He moved from Graettinger five years ago to practice dentistry and now has more work than he can handle. He has become a substantial landowner with a Florida quarter section and six Alberta quarter sections. Wheat yields last year ranged from 40 to 70 dollars per acre on the better land. A renter offered cash to buy a section and a half, but Osher did not wish to sell.

Death of John Smith of Graettinger
John Smith a well known citizen of Graettinger died in a Cherokee hospital Tuesday morning. His son in law Frank Weir and daughter Agnes Smith traveled to Cherokee to arrange the remains. Brothers from Morris Minnesota are due today. Funeral plans await arrival of relatives. interment at Ayrshire or Graettinger. Full obituary to follow next week in the Times.

Hazens Plan Move to Wisconsin and Market Day Sale
