New Creamery Company Plans For Future In Graettinger
A stockholders meeting in Graettinger elected officers and outlined plans for a permanent modern creamery building. The capital stock is 5000 dollars in 100 shares, all held by farmers. A new board includes Jorgen Anderson Oscar Craven I F Noble John Bondhus and F L Lambe. Artic les of incorporation will be filed soon. The previous Graettinger Farmers Cooperative creamery charter expires in June after two decades of profitable operation and generous dividends. The group expects to recover more than the original investment from reserves and salvage. In a separate note Linn Rogers lost two fingers in a gasoline engine mishap while cranking, resulting in amputation of the little and middle fingers. the ring finger and thumb suffered severe damage but may be saved.

Had a big sale today EB. D. Darling's Shorthorn sale was a decided success with total receipts near $8,000 including the Mnorses. Cattle averaged a little under $170 per head as about seventy five outside buyers attended along with telegraphic bids and bids by field men. Three auctioneers and three field men worked the ring. Several cattle bought by farmers in this and Emmet county. A buyers list will be published next week.

Loss of Lars Kruse steamer stirs Cedar Falls Danes
Cedar Falls hosts a large Danish community outraged by news that the Danish steamer Lars Kruse, named for a famed Danish rescuer, was submarine attacked while aiding Belgian relief. The vessel was built and owned by Jakob Christiansen of Copenhagen. his brother Wilhelm lived in Cedar Falls for years and later moved to Minneapolis to pursue real estate. Their family lineage includes seafaring ancestors and a navy veteran father who died in a diving accident at age 75 after a life at sea.

H S Fain of Emmetsburg held a large Duroc Jersey hog sale yesterday, selling 49 head at an average of 90.25 dollars with top price 205 dollars. Buyers ranged from the Dakotas and Minnesota to Nebraska and beyond, including Texas and Long Beach California. Fain is noted as a leading Palo Alto county breeder of Duroc Jersey hogs.

Noted Danish Hero Lars Kruse and Silent Sea Perils
Three years before this incident Jacob Christiansen built the Lars Kruse offshore from Kruse’s northern Denmark home. Fifteen miles of treacherous shifting sandbars form a graveyard where many ships go down and thousands perish.
