Edward Westfall and Irene Catherine Fuller were married at Immaculate Conception Church in Graettinger on June 21 1983. Rev Father Kelly performed the ceremony. Best man was Donald Fuller and bridesmaid Vivian Sullivan. The couple enjoyed a wedding breakfast in Emmetsburg at the Kemore hotel and will reside in Graettinger.

Mrs. Chris Jensen 84 mother of John Jensen of west of Gracttinger died at her Ruthven home Sunday evening after a period of illness. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at her residence and at St. Pauls Lutheran Church at 2:00 p.m. A fuller obituary will run in next week’s Times.

Local teams defeated Ringsted 11 to 10.9 in a tightly contested Sunday game. Graettinger suffered a setback against Ringsted while another nearby team, Inday, posted a narrow win.
About twenty five patrons took part in the cream scoring contest at Farmers Creamery Saturday and scores ranged to 96 percent. Arthur Clemitson led with 96, P J Duus and Ulmer Iverson tied at 93, while Carl Irenbast scored 95 but did not enter. Karl Wester of Ames Extension led judging with 8:30 p.m. start. the final contest will be held this Saturday with a team of five to represent Grachinger creamery at Mason City. The program promotes education on cream quality and its impact on payments to creameries. Graettinger youths Vincent Allen and Norman Christiansen with four Palo Alto County teens are stationed at Winona Minnesota near the town edge where a road project is underway. They traveled from Wabasha and report Vincent has been named platoon commander, with a possible sergeant promotion soon.

Thieves forced entry to four Terril businesses on Tuesday evening, stealing 80 dollars in cash from J A Jensen’s Farmers Cash Store along with overalls shirts and a dollar in cash plus several cartons of cigarettes from the drug store. Twenty nickels vanished from the Chapman garage, and the Lutz garage was entered with nothing taken. Entry was via crowbar, amid ongoing local petty thefts. The incident occurred as a nearby card drawing was in progress, suggesting locals familiar with the area conducted the raid.
Verle Thaves sixteen son of Edward and Mrs Thaves of Burt drowned at Wellman Beach Clear Lake Saturday while swimming with a companion. It is believed cramps caused his drowning as his body was found fifteen feet from the dock by Paul Engstler of Garner in shallow water.
Spencer resident Jack Bisbee, 30, died Saturday night when his car overturned two miles north of Sioux Rapids. Passenger Cassius Lage, 36, also from Spencer, was seriously injured.

George Hayden, 48, Estherville grocer for sixteen years, died by suicide at home placing a shotgun in his mouth. Survived by wife and four daughters aged 18, 16, 14, and 8. A daughter recently graduated high school. The Hawkeye Theatre space between building and sidewalk was spruced up by manager George Frick with ground spading, grass seed, and flowers to improve appearance.
