Rolland George son of Mr and Mrs E G George of Graettinger and Miss Lois Denney daughter of Mr and Mrs C L Denney Pueblo Colorado were married Friday June 14 at Plymouth Congregational Church Fort Wayne They will honeymoon through Minnesota and Wisconsin and make Fort Wayne their home The groom an Iowa State College graduate and philatelist recently left his job to devote time to his growing private business The Times offers best wishes for a long and happy marriage.

Miss Bertha Fogde Heads Far East Teaching Trip

Miss Bertha Fogde of Graattinger sails from San Francisco next Monday with a group of teachers led by a Columbia University professor. They plan to study at the University of Japan for two weeks, visit Mawali, Ching, and the Philippine Islands, and return in September. Miss Fogde is a Columbia graduate. Miss Jensen also attended Columbia. The Times wishes them a pleasant and safe journey.

Madison man near death after train collision

John H Reierson, 47, of 126 Talmagigest Madison Wisconsin, was critically injured when his truck was struck by a Milwaukee Road train at Division Street crossing. He suffered multiple lacerations, a fractured arm, possible skull fracture and internal injuries. Railroad officials said signals were operating and the train carried wreckage 56 feet.

Frick Family Returns From 8000 Mile Eastward Trip

George Frick and family completed an 8000 mile auto journey to Canada and the Atlantic coast. They visited Detroit Niagara Albany and New York City with stops in Springfield Boston and Washington. They met Fred Spies and Kurt Spies in New York before sailing. The return included a visit to Miss Loix Eyeritt in Marion Illinois and the trip reportedly had no flats or trouble.

Neighbors Help Ill War Veteran On Simonsen Farm

George Sweet Performs in Emmetsburg This Week

The George Sweet Shows arrive in Emmetsburg with the first performance this Thursday evening and run through Sunday, June 28. Sweet, seen since 1912 at Hawk Eye Theatre with The Messenger Boy, recently visited Grasttingar and recalled old acquaintances and the late Dr Hassion.

City Hall Closed Indefinitely After Council Vote

City council votes to close City Hall until further notice. The hall remains usable for business and community activities but restroom facilities are barred indefinitely. Officials say the move should help address water contamination in the city well.

California shoppers face high prices on many items though fruits and vegetables stay cheap. Mrs Ceaule Christensen of Christensen Variety Store plans to close her northwest Iowa business and move to California this fall, citing pleasant winters as a lure. She has run the shop for nineteen years and laments leaving friends and relatives. The item notes northwest Iowa prices and urges early shopping as bargains may be short lived.

Two Young Men On Lost Island Cream Scoring Team

Selmer Nelson of Lost Island Creamery reports the cream scoring team contest selected members Robert Nolan T J Situs Howard Suss Carl Christensen and Clarisi Swanson. Robert Nolan and Troward Suss are both young. Robert nearly hit the correct score in elimination and impressed Nelson. John Nolan, last year’s team member, qualified again but could not compete this year.

Emmetsburg Rendering Works Change In Ownership

Herbert J. Drayer of Gowrie purchased the Emmetsburg Rendering Works from Glenn Henrich this week and will operate it with Henrich helping briefly. Drayer runs plants at Gowrie and Jefferson and will install new equipment, including a ary cooker, while shifting territory with Swea City Rendering Works. The Graettinger area will see changes as Ira Hewitt quits the Graettinger territory and Hansen Bros. gain meal calls at their cream station.

Three Beer Licenses Issued At $100 Each

Graettinger city council approved a beer ordinance at a second special meeting last evening fixing licenses at 150 but an amendment lowered it to 100. A business district covering Robbins Avenue from the depot to Hawkeye picture house was defined, eliminating the highway area. Three licenses were granted to Win Wendt John McBride and Ray Loveau, while The Inn on the highway was excluded for being outside the district.

Jolting Joe Goeders Wins Ringsted Ring Main Event

"Jolting" Joe Goeders of Emmetsburg outpointed Frankie Vogl of Janesville Wisconsin in eight rounds at Ringsted main bout. Melrice stopped Eddie Spencer in six. Hassel edged Dan McDermott with two draws and a long sixth count. Jackson defeated Ross Anderson by second round technical, and Jennings beat Zehnus on points in four rounds. Petersen and Johnson drew in four. final card praised by promoters and locals.
