Andy Johnson Suffered Eye Injury From Steel Splinter
Andy Johnson of rama Iowa, son in law of Mr and Mrs C M Nolan, had an eye injured Saturday when a steel splinter entered. He was rushed to Marshalltown hospital with hope sight is saved. Mrs Johnson and two sons visited. Donahues of Emmetsburg drove them to Marshalltown, then to Iowa City. Nora Nolan, visiting, returned home. Graettinger friends regret the misfortune and hope for recovery.

Church Benefit Play to Aid Local Methodist Church

I. G. A Store Opens With Large Attendance

Mrs Fleming Injured In Porch Fall At Home
Mrs J A Fleming broke her left arm Friday after becoming dizzy and falling from her porch. Glass from the fall broke her glasses but caused no further injury. She has remained in bed since the accident and is in considerable pain, with many Gracie finger friends offering sympathy.
First Visit To Graettinger In 63 Years
Mrs. Bradford and her daughter Miss Rose Bradford of Wisconsin Rapids visited Graettinger recalling 1869 arrival with her father FM Cooley. The family settled on the Des Moines river’s west bank near the D C Barringer farm, assisted by Fingersons, later moved to Spencer, then Wisconsin. She toured the pioneer site and inquired about old river islands and local families.

Ernest Wikert Charles Thorson Alvin Michaele of Graettinger and Marion Trickel of Emmetsburg went to Rapid City for Milwaukee railroad construction. They expected 25 cents per hour but received 26 cents. hours cut to eight daily to meet NRA rules. Deductions for board and insurance left about 4.30 weekly if worked daily, 0.80 if two rain days, or debt of 1.70 if three rain days. Wikert noted frequent rain during their stay.

Local Contractors Win Walnut Township School Contract
Gilbaugh and Clemmenson of Graettinger secured the Walnut Township school building contract for a little over 2600 dollars. The new structure replaces the McCombs Wolfe school, the first on the Times highway east of Graettinger. Miss Alice Weir, daughter of Mr Weir, and Mrs Frank Weir, will teach. The bid was awarded at Graettinger City Hall Friday evening.

Leased Gateswood Tea Room to Operate This Summer
Mary Raidy of Graettinger and two Ak yon teachers have leased the Gateswood Tea Room at Okobojis to run it through the season. The Gateswood is a popular lake region spot with hundreds visiting daily. The Brewer home near Groettinger was destroyed by fire, losses included goods and clothing. Frank Christensen bought a new Chevrolet car recently.

Sermon at 13 Hour Devotions by Father Mason
Thirteen hour devotions were held at the Catholic church on Sunday June 2. The service began at eight in the morning and ended with benediction and a sermon by Rev Father Mason of Ayrshire.
