Rainfall Delights Graettinger Area After Weekend Storm
A splendid shower hit Graettinger and surroundings early Monday, the first since June 29, with a brief July rain also noted. The downpour restored moisture for corn while strong winds and a lightning burst disabled over 50 telephones. Much uncut ripe crop was blown down in spots but nearly all can be harvested, delivering substantial economic relief to local farmers.

Grafter Targets North Dakota Land Deed For Fifty Thousand
A smooth con man tried to secure 50 000 dollars from a Waterloo firm last week by presenting a deed for 10 000 acres in North Dakota and attempting to mortgage it.
