Farmers Grain platform this afternoon features the first new oats of the season. Reports say weigh in and market notes may appear in the Times, with prices and signals likely to carry early interest among traders and residents.
A four ring circus arrives in Emmetsburg on Monday July 24 featuring Baby Bolo the elephant, Captain Matt More from the Royal Zoo, Miss Delores Gomez in the Spain pageant, and other acts like the Connor Troupe. O F Spies, operator in the Ruth Von creamery, captured first in the Town State Brand workmanship contest at the association’s annual Mason City meeting with a 97.7 score. He earns a free trip to the world’s fair as the prize, marking his second consecutive first. Otto Ian, Graettinger native and son of Mr and Mrs Carl Spies, also from Graettinger, is noted as a former Graettinger youth pleased with Spies’s Mason City success.
Gilbaugh and Clemmensen secured the contract for a new 40 by 60 foot barn on the Charley Jensen farm, south of Grad linger. They will dismantle the wrecked old barn from the windstorm two weeks ago Saturday night. The firm is active in Graettinger territory with ongoing construction. A separate note mentions a Wahway incident where Roy Henderson and his wife observed a bumper strike against a Jake rabbit.
ARNEY McCARR V J Arey athletic director Graettinger and Miss McCarr Sac City wed in Sioux City Thursday. They plan a brief wedding trip and return for the September school year opening. He is a Rockwell City alum and Buena Vista graduate. The bride, daughter of Dr and Mrs McCarr, was chief operator at Sac City telephone exchange. LARSON JENSEN George A Larson and Ida Marie Jensen wed in Wallingford Lutheran parsonage July 19 with attendants Arthur Jensen and Christine Anderson.
The Diplomaniacs burlesque comedy stars Bert Wheeler and Robert Woolsey with Marjorie White and Phyllis Barry at the Iowa Theatre on Sunday. Hugh Herbert Louis Calhern and Neely Edwards are among the notable supporting players in a lavish production with 24 Hollywood beauties. The show, based on the Peace Conference era, features shifting backdrops from an Oklahoma Indian reservation to Geneva and a sea liner. Also notes a family reunion in Guthrie County and a fatal accident near Laurens.

Hon Gilbert N Haugen, 74, died Tuesday night at his daughter’s home in Northwood Iowa after illness. He served as congressman from his district for 24 years and was regarded as one of Iowa’s able and level headed leaders. The state mourns a notable Norwegian American statesman.
R L Shea, former ten year sheriff of Palo Alto county, has been chosen as manager of Curtis Motor Co. The firm handled Chevrolet cars and the Times wishes him success in his new position. He is noted as congenial, successful, and well acquainted in Palo Alto and surrounding counties.
A. R. Maurstad, manager of the Royal Lumber Co., reports a splendid business last month with much repairing and improving. Prices have not advanced, only a penny on on-hand stock, a notable savings for buyers. He warns prices will not stay low and advertises coal and prices to fit the season, noting a large supply at Tandy.
A garbled report notes a kidnapping involving Alton and Kianner of Ki, with Dr Dempsey of Grafton visiting J A Spies's home. Luer spent Sunday prior to the incident, while Mila is described as a fine gentleman. The event is labeled an outrage by Dr Dempsey.

A separate brief notes Youth Man Of 30 Dead and Peterson, an 80 year old grain elevator employee at Terrill, died at Ames hospital that week with ulcers of the stomach. he was single, parents listed as Mr and Mrs Henry J Peterson.
