John Nelson Pioneer Citizen Dies Sudden Last Thursday
John Nelson a longtime Graettinger resident and pioneer citizen died suddenly Thursday morning at about 4:30 after a stroke. Funeral services were held Saturday at the Danish Lutheran and Norwegian Lutheran churches, with large attendance and floral tributes. Nelson, born February 23, 1840, moved to Graettinger in 1919 with his wife Mary Jensen Nelson, raised eight children and was remembered for honesty, hospitality, and community service.
