Estherville officials and local nurse clarified two absences for possible measles were not actual cases. Iowa officials plan vaccination talks for schools amid statewide immunization efforts. about 75 red measles cases have been reported in several counties including Clay Dickinson and Emmet.
The Iowa license system now uses a laminated plastic card with a color photo and a standard application number replacing the social security number. First issued at the State Fair last August and later in Palo Alto County in mid December, the card carries a red 18 and under marker on the front and two back boxes for medical alert and donor status. Fees stay $5 for two year licenses under 21 and over 65, $10 for four year licenses in between, and new plastic licenses for those with unexpired old cards cost $1.
