Wm Luhman shows Times office curios from a gravel pit south of Rodman including wood coal samples and a buried tree from the glacial era. A jaw bone and three teeth were found at Trumbull Lake and given to Luhman by a Rodman grader, with bones likely from about fifteen skeletons. The relics are shown at the Times office and earlier protests from locals halted removal.

Graettinger Nursery Moves Two Large Blue Spruce Trees
W.8 George of the Graettinger Nursery moved two Blue Spruce trees to J.A. Spiea’s residence in the northwest part of town. Each tree weighed about three tons and was loaded on a stone boat pulled by four horses. The move was done in winter when the ground was frozen.

Mrs. Markham Dies in Illinois After Illness and Surgery
Mrs. W. W. Markham died at her Wayne Illinois home on Tuesday January 4 after a three year illness and a surgical operation from which she did not regain consciousness. She was 47 and survived by her husband and fifteen children, with twelve living. She was sister to O. C. McAllister and half sister of W. S. Stevens of Graettinger. The Markhams resided in Estherville Armstrong and Cylinder areas previously. neighbors extend sympathy.

Stolen Ford Found in St Paul Garage
Martin Meyer of Whittemore reported a Ford coupe stolen last fall was discovered in a St Paul garage after being abandoned in the street. Police suspected outlaws who escaped from Emmataburg jail fled with the car, and a bullet hole in the rear of the vehicle linked it to the escapees as officers pursued a speeding coupe in Mankato, Minnesota.

Hans J. Rolfson aged over 86 of Emmet county died January 7 at the Brainerd home of his daughter Mrs S P Solberg after ailments of old age. Funeral at Pequot Lutheran church with burial in Pequot cemetery. Born October 14 1840 in Salten Norway he lived in Wisconsin and Minnesota before settling in Emmet county. Survived by five of seven children, nineteen grandchildren and one great grandchild. The Times extends sympathy to the family.

The man known as Two Gun Shea, recently killed by an Italian saloon keeper in Boat Dubuque, has been identified as Jack Frye from Fort Dodge and Sioux City. Frye had pled guilty last September to a liquor charge in Fort Dodge district court.
