Has Fine Poland China Hogs Ben I Reeves and family moved from Guthrie Center to the western Graettinger farm recently vacated by Dave Ingvold. Reeves, a breeder of top Poland China hogs, also plans to auctioneering in Graettinger next fall. He owns nine brood sows with two sows averaging about 1100 pounds and one being a sister to a boar that sold for 6600 dollars. Reeves is a successful farmer and genial local figure.
Charles Gammon died Saturday afternoon after a long illness of cerebral meningitis. Born June 2, 1901 in Graettinger, he was 16 years, 8 months, and 21 days old. Funeral held Wednesday at 11, at home, with Rev. I. M. Cathcart officiating. Survived by mother, an older brother Calvin, a sister Genevieve, and a younger brother James. father had died about three months earlier. The Times extends sympathy to the family.
Mr. Antone Christofferson died at his home in the northwest part of Graettinger last evening at 10 30 after years of illness and a recent critical condition. Funeral set for Saturday forenoon at 11 at the residence. An obituary notice will appear next week. Lost Their Baby Girl It Spassed away Saturday. The funeral was held Monday afternoon with interment in the cemetery east of Graettinger. Mr and Mrs C A Vanney of Estherville mourn the loss of their two weeks old baby girl.
The Lutheran Mission drive reports strong local results with several hundred dollars raised in this city and surrounding areas. Organizers estimate the national goal is $600,000 but say contributions will likely exceed $2,000,000 for war relief.
Governor Harding proclaims a boys’ enrollment week from February 25 to March 2 urging Iowa youth to volunteer for farm labor on the Sarma project. Due to Graettinger school closure, boys will register Monday March 4 at 4 p.m. in the high school assembly.
