The Gracttinger Co-Operative Live Stock Shipping association held its annual meeting at Woodman hall. Members re-elected to the board and reports showed 6,683 hogs and 1,205 cattle shipped, with total pounds 2,299,675. Net receipts for cattle rose 28,701.40. Noted speakers included Mr. Stawley and Hon. F. C. Gilchrist.

Mrs. Preston Fahnestock of Pasadena California and formerly Graettinger died February 18 1930 after a long illness. Amelia Katherine Spies born May 1866 in Marine Illinois married Preston Fahnestock in 1876. Survived by daughter Mrs. Amy Wildey two sisters and a brother. Funeral held last Thursday in Pasadena.

Arthur J. Duhn and Myrtle Allen were united in marriage at the Lutheran parsonage in Graettinger on Wednesday evening February 26 at six o'clock, with Rev. M Mandinger officiating. They will honeymoon in the Twin Cities and reside west of the Graettinger residence after March 15. J H Samuelson of Des Moines wins the 1930 Iowa State Checker Tournament in Iowa Falls after a two day finals run on the double knockout plan. Eight finalists included H Mitchell A L Gihak L W Bittle Will Cook Otto Kaklbe Al Gractinger and Wm Dunning with Samuelson defeating Mitchell and Cook en route to the title. Kolba tied with Gractinger for third and fourth, Kolba earning third after a tiebreak. Joe Duffy featured in a side exhibition game, offering a $9 wager for an “un win” return.

Tragic Kerosene Explosion Ends Life of Emmetsburg Girl
Rozella Korleski, 16, of Emmetsburg High School, died after a five gallon kerosene can exploded. She burned as clothing ignited and inhaled gas. Funeral held Tuesday at St Thomas Church Emmetsburg with 150 High School students in attendance. Her mother wrapped flames with a blanket to save her.

Dean Turneaure Honored At Wisconsin University
Frederick J. Turneaure, dean of the college of engineering at the University of Wisconsin, will receive the Henry Turner gold medal from the American Concrete Institute in New Orleans for distinguished service in reinforced concrete design. Coach Dunmire leads six Graettinger wrestlers to Ames for the state wrestling meet with draws at am and matches starting at 10 am. Participants include Donald Jones Kenneth Reeves Kermit Reeves Bernard Deaming Ralph Robinson and Trygve Larsen. Ruthven hosts the state preliminary declamatory contest Friday evening while Loretta Swift Serene Myhre and Marian George represent Graettinger in drama and oratory. The final county contest features Verna Grodland and Lillie Jacobsen at Ruthven on March 4. Graettinger plans a state basketball first round at Spirit Lake March 6 7 and 8 against Ringsted. Ayrshire teams meet Graettinger girls and junior high boys Tuesday evening March 4 in the local gym.

Funeral for Art Christiansen Held After Tragic Injury
Art Christiansen died after a blood clot ended a brief fight for life at Coleman hospital Estherville. He was injured February 10 during a scuffle at Thompson Iowa suffering a spinal injury and paralysis, later dying Wednesday. Funeral Saturday at his parents Lost Island town home with services at the house and Lutheran church.
