Miss Verda Kizer Married Tuesday

The wedding of Miss Verda Kizer to Cyrel Goode of Cameron Illinois took place Tuesday at 10 o clock in Estherville with Rev Torbet officiating. A dinner followed. the couple departed on the evening train. The bride, reared in this community, is educated in local schools and the groom recently returned from military service. The Times extends congratulations and best wishes for a long, happy marriage.

Dispanet Auction Realizes Big Local Prices

Dispanet held a seventeen thousand fifty hundred hundred? dollars sale Tuesday. Top prices reached for milch cows two hundred twenty dollars and horses two hundred five dollars. One team of mules sold for five hundred five dollars. Hogs and machinery brought strong prices. Auctioneer Grodland finished the sale in five hours at about three thousand dollars per hour. Dispanet advertised heavily with a page ad in the Graettinger Times and five quarter pages in other papers.

Minstrel Show and Military Ball at Hawkeye Theatre

Uncle Sam’s minstrels headline Friday night at the Hawkeye theatre followed by a military ball. Graettinger soldiers and sailors are urged to wear uniforms. Tickets on sale at the Windsor hotel. reserve seats early to see Pershing’s army troops.

Pageant of the War in West Bend Patriotic Program

The West Bend High School hosts a patriotic program titled lo Arma For Liberty featuring Belgium France Serbia Russia Poland Montenegro and many other nations represented by students. A large cast includes Margaret George Frances Hendricks Esther Pierson Lily Sandyig Ioan Pierson Laura Thorson Bertha Hauge Alice Erickson Alma Smith Vesta Gardner Judith Brekke Mattie Birkland and dozens more with choruses and an orchestra performing Marseillaise Rule Britannia and other national hymns. A basket ball game against West Bend precedes the Opera House event with the High School orchestra providing intermission music and the program touted as the year’s big home talent production.

Death of Rose Mary Reidy at 22 months

Dr and Mrs M J Reidy mourn the death of their 22 month old daughter Rose Mary after a brief illness including pneumonia. Funeral held at Immaculate Conception Church with burial in the Catholic cemetery. The Times offers sympathy to the family. Also reported: a KP lodge reception for veterans with music and readings. Eighth Grade Examinations Set For Thursday and Friday

Eighth grade examinations will be held Thursday and Friday February 2 and 28 at the Court House in Emmetsburg and at rural high schools including Grachtinger Ruthven West Bend Mallard Rodman and Curlew. Supt Johnson invites all eighth grade pupils in the vicinity of Grachtinger to come here for the examination.
