Bachelors Enjoy Social Evening at Grachtinger Club Banquet

The fifth annual Grachtinger Bachelor club banquet was held Tuesday with a showing of The Hoodlum at Hawkeye theatre. Parent-Teachers served the meal at Woodman hall, followed by a speaking program and a social dance. Officers and committee members were listed, marking a successful, well-attended event for bachelors and their ladies.

Hog Drowns Value in Loss of Jersey Boar at Lakoba Farm

Lakoba farmer Gus Torne reported the death of a 70 pound registered Jersey boar valued at $1900 after a bad heat, illness, and possible heart trouble. The animal, bred by Torne, died in the hog house despite earlier care and double treatments for cholera.

Robbery at Algona Catholic Parsonage Claims Bond and Cash

Thieves entered the Algona Catholic parsonage Tuesday night around 7:16 and stole a Liberty Bond and 400 dollars. Father Coffey lost 250 dollars and the bond, taken from clothing. Mrs. Ryan found the break hour later. Despite patrols of roads and depots, the offender remains at large. The incident is described as a Bertitenbiaty offense with severe penalties if caught.
